In addition, students applying from abroad and coming to study on a student visa need to pay a 1-time, $300 program fee to process their visa invitation letter, as well as at least 3 months worth of tuition, (1800 RMB), prior to arrival. Contact Us for information on how to pay.
On-Campus Housing Options
*Note* We can assist with finding off-campus housing. Please see our accomodation page for more info. For short-term study sessions, you can come over on a tourist, (L) visa. An L Visa varies from country to country, but generally allows you to stay for 30-90 days at a time. Be sure to check with your embassy beforehand about the amount of time you can stay on a tourist visa*. The advantage of coming over on a tourist visa, is that it doesn't require you to get an invitation letter, take the physical exam, or pay for a student ID. *Note* Chinese visa restrictions have been tightening recently, and it is getting more and more difficult to stay for long periods of time on a tourist/business visa. As such, if you think you might be interested in staying for longer than a couple of months, you would probably be better off with a student, (X), visa.
For longer sessions, a student (X) visa is recommended. If you are already in China, we MAY have the ability to switch your L or F visa into an X visa, (this is becoming more difficult, however, due to increasing visa restrictions, and can not be guaranteed) . In order to process your X visa, there is a fee of 1400 RMB, or $205, (for some countries, the charge is 1600 RMB, this is due to different visa agreements with the Chinese government). This includes your invitation letter, physical exam fee, student ID, and photo registration. |
